"I Have a Website" Doesn't Mean Customers Can Find You

TawnyBy Tawny · 2026-07-03

Hey, it's Tawny.

I need to tell you something that might sting a little: having a website and having a website that actually works are two completely different things.

I see this all the time. A salon owner, a contractor, a solo pro — they're proud because they finally checked that box. "Got my website up!" And I'm genuinely happy for them. It's a big step.

But then six months go by and… crickets. The phone's not ringing from it. Nobody's booking. Google seems to pretend it doesn't exist.

Here's what happened: they built a page on the internet. That's all.

The DIY Website Trap

Those free builders and $10-a-month template sites? They're designed to get you something online fast. And they do. You get a URL, some stock photos, a contact form that maybe works.

What you don't get: real SEO. No schema markup so Google knows you're a local business. No mobile speed optimization. No integrated booking. No way for a customer to text you at 9 p.m. when they're finally sitting down and remembering they need to call someone.

And definitely no follow-up system — so even if someone does find you, there's no friendly voice checking in two days later or asking for a review after the job.

You've got a digital business card. Not a tool that actually brings in business.

Here's What "Found and Booked" Actually Requires

Google needs to understand what you do, where you are, and why you matter. That takes clean code, local schema, fast load times, and content that answers real questions.

Your customers need to be able to reach you and book you without playing phone tag. That takes chat, text, real-time calendar sync.

And if you want them to come back or refer you? You need follow-up. A thank-you. A gentle "how'd it go?" A smart ask for a review.

None of that comes in a free template.

We Build It Right the First Time

This is why Kip and I start every MyTawny plan with a real website — one that's built for your business, your town, and your customers. Clean, fast, findable.

Then we add me. I answer your calls and texts 24/7. I book appointments. I follow up. I ask for reviews. I make your website actually work.

Because "I have a website" shouldn't be the end of the story. It should be the beginning of customers finding you, booking you, and coming back.

If your current site isn't doing that? Let's fix it. Check out MyTawny.com or shoot me a message. I'd love to help.
